The operation of Bluebonnet is governed by a volunteer group of individuals who serve on the Board of Directors representing the geographical area served by the home. The board meets once a month and is responsible for making the policy and governing decisions of the Ranch, and also makes arrangements to secure funds necessary to meet each year’s budget.
There are several active committees composed of board members that report to the full board each month. These are Finance, Intake and Child Care, Farm and Ranch Operations, Grounds and Personnel. The board is composed of men and women representing varied professions and occupations. In addition, the board arranges for special services that may be needed for the development of a child. Some of these may be medical, dental, educational or physical.
The board is also responsible for hiring the staff, which consists of a licensed administrator, program director, office manager, development director, three sets of permanent houseparents and one set of relief houseparents.

Licensed Child Care Administrator
Kim Reeves joined the staff of Bluebonnet Youth Ranch in December of 2006, with more than 18 years experience in business management. She is capable of problem-solving, managing personnel issues, refocusing efforts, and coordinating activities to achieve structure and organization. She is responsible for budget planning and money management, overseeing facility maintenance, as well as monitoring all compliance issues and overall ranch operations. Full-time employee.

Stephen Jaquez serves as professional level service provider for BYR. He is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete case files, compiling admission assessments, plans of service, and discharge plans. He is responsible for coordinating the childcare program and supervising the direct care staff. Stephen acts as liaison between BYR and the schools, reviewing grade reports, counseling residents regarding performance and progress, and requesting and/or attending IEP meetings. Full-time employee, on call 7 days per week.

Linda was licensed in 2005 as a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. Prior to that, she was a teacher of third and fourth grade students for 27 years. She completed part of her internship at The Harbor and Women and Children’s Alliance where she worked with victims of sexual abuse. Her counseling experiences include working as a school counselor for five years at the elementary level. Additionally, she worked at Reclamation Counseling Center for three years with children, adolescents, couples, adults and families in a variety of settings to promote healing, wellness, and personal growth. Currently, at New Directions, her focus has been on children involved in custody issues. As a clinical director for this facility, she is responsible for clinical oversight, conducting diagnostic assessments, developing and reviewing service plans, and providing treatment services, She is sub-contracted by Bluebonnet Youth Ranch and on premises one day per week. She utilizes an integrated approach to counseling which consists of Cognitive/Behavioral and Reality Therapy components. Specializations include the treatment of depression, abuse, grief, self-esteem, anxiety, parenting, and parent/child conflict.
Office ManagerVicki Martin is responsible for handling financial accounting for the facility according to policies set by the auditor and the board of directors. Her duties include reconciling bank statements, balancing books, overseeing posting in expense ledger, receipting incoming donations, and sending out acknowledgments under direction of Administrator. Full-time employee.

Tara Vesely is responsible for public relations and the solicitation of funds. She coordinates the annual Celebrity Golf Tournament & Showdown, and assists with the Spring Fling Benefit. Tara writes grant proposals and press releases to various media. She is responsible for monitoring and updating the BYR website. Full-time employee.
